The City of Poznań and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań invite you to an open lecture by Professor Daniel Griffith - an expert in the field of the economics of cities, co-creator of a new research stream, known as "geospatial science".

The lecture entitled: "Ten maps that changed the world" will take place on 30 May, 2012, at 13:00 - 14:30 in Sala Biała (White Room) of the City Hall of Poznan, pl. Kolegiacki 17.


Professor Daniel Griffith works in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences at the University of Texas. He is an eminent representative of the quantitative trend in economics and the economics of cities. As a graduate in mathematics and economics, he is the co-creator of a new trend, known as "geospatial science". In this field he has achieved world scientific success, of which he himself is the pioneer.

The importance of his research led to his being the visiting Professor in such institutes as: Cambridge University, Erasmus University (Rotterdam), the University of Rome, and the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (Rostock).

Twice in six years he was the editor of "Geographical Analysis", a key scientific magazine in the field of spatial sciences.
