University of the Art in Poznań and the city of Poznań are inviting for the open lectures delivered by prof. Richard Wilson from Royal Academy of Art London. The talk "On contemporary challenges, expectations and the shifting world order" takes place on 8 October 2018 at 3:30 p.m. in the atrium of the university (ul. Janiny Lewandowskiej 20). Earlier, at 11 a.m., in the same place prof. Wilson delivers also an inauguration speech commencing the academic year 2018/2019.
Prof. Richard Wilson is one of the most widely-discussed contemporary British artists whose achievements have been granted with the most prestigious awards in the world - including the Queen Elizabeth's Order. He took part, notably, in biennale in Venice, Sao Paulo and Sidney. He is considered the master of illusion and his shocking installations twisted in the public space are supposed to make the audience confused.
His work displayed in Saatchi Collection in London "20:50" - the room covered with oil, which in its infinity reflects and absorbs the space around, was called one of the most important works of art in the 20th century by the critic Andrew Dixon from the BBC programme - The History of British Art. In Liverpool the artist is famous for the project "Turning the place over" - he literally cut out a fragment of building that could turn freely 360 degrees.
Prof. Wilson holds the title of the Honorary Academic of the Royal Academy of Fine Art in London and the honorary doctor at University of East London. He is the Guggenheim Foundation, DAAD and Meada Visiting Artist - The Association of Architects scholar; he was twice nominated for the most prestigious prize in the field of visual arts: Turner Prize in London.
He participates in celebratory events at the special invitation of Prof. Katarzyna Kujawska-Murphy who will also perform as the panel moderator.
