The City of Poznań and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Szkoła Wyższa Psychologii Społecznej) kindly invite to an open lecture to be given by Professor Josef Isensee - a world-renowned expert in the theory of constitution and state. The lecture "Is zero hour possible? The dilemma of a "new beginning" by a transition from dictatorship to democracy' ("Gibt es eine Stunde Null? Das Dilemma des Neuanfangs beim Übergang von der Diktatur zur Demokratie") will be held on 12th June 2014, at 12:00, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Faculty in Poznań, 10 gen. Tadeusza Kutrzeby Street, room 340.

Professor Josef Isensee is a world-renowned expert in the theory of constitution and state. He is a co-author of the monumental 10-volume work "The State Law System of the Federal Republic of Germany", one of the greatest works in the history of constitutional law.

A long-standing Head of the Public Law Department at the University of Bonn. Since 1986 a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts in Düsseldorf. A laureate of many distinctions, among others: the Award of Karl Vossler of the Free State of Bavaria acknowledging his brilliant ("of literary standard") mastering of the German language, the Grand Cross 1st class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Ring of honour of the Görre Society. He is a Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński (1997) and a visiting professor of the universities in Jena, Berlin or Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.

The achievements of Josef Isensee affected materially the form of the German constitutionalism. His fields of interest focus on the theory and dogma of constitutional law, and in particular on the chief system principals and fundamental rights. He has also significant achievements in the field of the general theory of state, political and law doctrines. In his research he raises the issue of among others the influence of Christianity on the development of modern constitutional states. He believes that those states emerged on the foundations of the Christian culture, thus being its derivatives.

The visit of Professor Isensee in Poznań will be an opportunity to give a lecture significant in the context of the experiences of Poland's and Germany's contemporary history, entitled: "Is zero hour possible? The dilemma of a "new beginning" by a transition from dictatorship to democracy'. Discussion after the lecture will be a chance to meet personally and share ideas with the world-renowned authority in the field of constitutional law.
